Abstract

Information ELevated offers a first look at data from OELA’s forthcoming 2020–22 Biennial Report. This episode provides a snapshot on the number of identified ELs, which increased by 8% over the 10-year period between school years (SY) 2012–13 and 2021–22. In SY 2012–13, SEAs reported identifying 4,854,470 ELs. By SY 2021–22, the number of identified ELs totaled 5,264,304, an increase of 409,834 students. SEAs identified a total of 4,963,907 ELs in school year (SY) 2020–21. SEAs identified a total of 5,264,304 ELs in SY 2021–22
